Getting ready for the last work push of the year:

A message from the CEO

October 2021

The business climate has arguably not been this challenging in years – and yet we are still here in our intertwined channel ecosystem: distributors, vendors and you, our valued partners. I believe that the investments Networks Unlimited has always made in our long-term relationships have certainly paid off over this recent turbulent period.

With next year in our sights, it is normal for professionals to feel a little overwhelmed at this time. Forecasting and budgeting for 2022 is likely to be on the horizon, and uncompleted tasks from earlier in the year may be starting to take centre stage. Certainly, this month can herald the beginning of a stressful period across the workplace, whether we are operating from home and / or the office.

But it is also a time to acknowledge our developments and achievements this year, and push ourselves for a bit longer to finish the year strongly. The time to tackle those last few challenges is now. In this way, we can envisage finishing 2021 on a positive note, and move ourselves and our business units further down the road towards success.

I suggest that now is a good time to remind yourself of how best to align with Networks Unlimited as your distributor partner, as well as the vendors whom we together represent.

  • Is there anything that can be incorporated into last marketing drives?
  • Are you on top of your game when it comes to being able to clarify your products’ unique selling points and what makes them superior?
  • Is there anything we can assist you with? We are always here to help.

From a more soft-skills perspective, it is true that stress often arises from a perceived lack of time, and unfortunately, at this time of the year, there is generally less flexibility with deadlines and schedules. We can no longer put off those tasks we didn’t want to deal with previously, and this can make the workload seem more onerous.

Some tried-and-tested time-management tips include the following:

  • Start with a to-do list: Whether electronic or paper-based, find a system that works for you so that you know what you are required to do on a daily and weekly basis.
  • Begin with the most critical projects at hand: Leave the less demanding tasks for when your energy is not as high.
  • Now is the time to delegate tasks to your team members: We are all in this together and people are not empowered in the long term if team leaders constantly do everything on their own.
  • Try to take breaks throughout the day: Publicity around the dangers of sitting for too long has been a trending topic this year! It’s also good to schedule some decent down-time at the weekends in order to start the new working week as fresh as possible.

Eventually, the pace will slow down and the holiday season will be upon us, providing an opportunity for us all to recharge our batteries and get ready for 2022.

We can apply coping strategies to almost anything in life, and this includes managing our work commitments in tandem with managed time-outs.

Good luck!

Warm regards

Anton Jacobsz
