Nigerian companies join Arbor Advantage Partner Program, strengthen fight against DDOS attacks in East and West Africa
Leading value-added distributor, Networks Unlimited, has announced that amid increasing reports of distributed denial-of-service (DDOS) attacks, two new Nigerian-based companies have joined the Arbor Advantage Partner Program to provide East and West African companies with leading security solutions by Arbor Networks, the security division of NETSCOUT (NASDAQ: NTCT).
Networks Unlimited will distribute the Arbor's Peakflow, Pravail and Cloud solutions to Business Connexion ICT Services, one of the largest ICT services providers in Africa, and SMSAM Systems, a leading provider of advanced enterprise IT security solutions to many of Africa's largest financial services companies, who together service 16 countries within East and West Africa.
According to Bryan Hamman, territory manager for sub-Saharan Africa at Arbor Networks, the impact of a DDOS attack is not the same for every organisation. "If you operate a global network, or one in which Web and application availability is a necessity for your employees, customers and supply chain partners, Arbor Cloud is your solution. With DDOS protection from Arbor Cloud and the Pravail Availability Protection System, enterprises can deploy best practices defence in a single solution, with tightly integrated mitigation from the enterprise premises to the cloud," he says.
Arbor Cloud's hybrid defence protects enterprises against a wide spectrum of DDOS attacks, including volumetric, application-layer, state-exhaustion (such as targeting firewall/IPS), blended and multi-vector DDOS attacks. The ease of use of the on-premises Pravail solution enables existing enterprise IT staff to maintain control of the mitigation, and gives them the ability to quickly alert the cloud when attacks reach a certain size that cannot be blocked locally.

In addition, the Peakflow solution integrates network-wide intelligence and anomaly detection with carrier-class threat management to help identify and stop network and application-layer DDOS attacks.
"Arbor Networks has more experience than anyone on the planet in fighting DDOS attacks for complex and demanding networks, and now West African companies can protect themselves from looming cyber threats," adds Hamman.
Business Connexion ICT Services assists companies in Nigeria, Benin, Cameroon, Togo, Ghana, Cote d'lvoire, Senegal, Niger, Burkina Faso, Liberia, Gabon and the Democratic Republic of Congo. SMSAM Systems services companies in Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroon, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Rwanda. Currently, Networks Unlimited distributes Arbor Networks' solutions in 18 African countries.
"We're leveraging on the massive experience of Arbor Networks in the space of DDOS prevention and mitigation to help our customers to be more proactive at securing not just their perimeter, but their investment, thereby achieving actionable return on security investment," comments Sunday McDisckson Samuel, CEO at SMSAM Systems.
"Business Connexion is excited to partner with Arbor Networks in Nigeria and Africa as a whole," adds Chika Acha, chief solutions architect at Business Connexion ICT Services.
