ConnectX®-6 EN Single/Dual-Port Adapter Supporting 200Gb/s Ethernet

Intelligent ConnectX-6 adapter cards, the newest additions to the Mellanox Smart Interconnect suite and supporting Co-Design and In-Network Compute, introduce new acceleration engines for maximizing Cloud, Web 2.0, Big Data, Storage and Machine Learning applications.

ConnectX-6 EN supports two ports of 200Gb/s Ethernet connectivity, sub-600 nanosecond latency, and 200 million messages per second, providing the highest performance and most flexible solution for the most demanding applications and markets.

ConnectX-6 offers Mellanox Accelerated Switching and Packet Processing (ASAP2) Direct technology to offload the vSwitch/vRouter by handling the data plane in the NIC hardware while maintaining the control plane unmodified. As a result, significantly higher vSwitch/vRouter performance is achieved without the associated CPU load.

ConnectX-6 offers a crucial innovation to network security by providing block-level encryption. Data in transit undergoes encryption and decryption as it is stored or retrieved. The encryption/decryption is offloaded by the ConnectX-6 hardware, saving latency and offloading CPU. ConnectX-6 block-level encryption offload enables protection between users sharing the same resources, as different encryption keys can be used.

LinkX® Cables and Transceivers

The Mellanox LinkX product family of cables and transceivers provides the industry’s most complete line of 10, 25, 40, 50, 100, 200, and 400Gb interconnect products for Cloud, Web 2.0, Enterprise, telco, and storage data centers applications. They are often used to link top-of-rack switches downwards to servers, storage & appliances and upwards in switch-to-switch applications.

Copper Direct Attach Cables (DAC)
Mellanox LinkX DACs make 100Gb/s deployments as easy as 10Gb/s. DACs are widely used in data centers to connect servers to the Top of the Rack (TOR) switch because they are passive, consume zero power and have the lowest latency. DAC cables are the lowest cost way to create 100G links. Mellanox offers a wide range of products for 0.5m to 7m reaches and in SFP and QSFP form factors. 

LinkX certified cables are 100% tested in actual Mellanox systems to ensure optimal signal integrity and the best end-to-end performance. Mellanox DAC cables are designed for use in super computers that have very stringent requirements. IEEE standards require 1E-12 Bit Error Ratio (BER), but all Mellanox cables are tested to 1E-15 which is 1,000 times fewer bit errors than competitors. Mellanox passive copper cables offer trouble free installation, long-term reliable operation and they work with 3rd-party switches and adapters.

DAC splitter cables & adapters
Mellanox LinkX DAC Splitter cables make it easy to connect 10, 25, and 50Gb/s servers/storage and appliances using network adapters to 40G & 100G Top-Of-Rack (TOR) switches. Passive DAC copper cables consume zero power and offers the lowest signal latency. Mellanox offers a wide range of products to support reaches from 0.5m to 7m for every application need.

Active Optical Cables (AOCs)

Active Optical Cables (AOC) are widely used in HPCs and have more recently became popular in hyperscale, enterprise and storage systems as a high-speed, plug & play solution with longer reaches than Direct Attach Copper (DAC) cables.

Optical transceivers convert electrical data signals into blinking laser light which is then transmitted over an optical fiber. Optical transceivers have a detachable optical connector to disconnect the fiber from the transceiver. AOCs bond the fiber connection inside the transceiver end, creating a complete cable assembly much like a DAC cable, only with a 3-200-meter reach capability. AOCs main benefit is the very long reach of optical technology, while acting like a simple, “plug & play” copper cable. A complete 2 transceiver AOC including fiber cable assembly is usually priced near the price of only a single connectorized transceiver.
